Turtle Nesting

The turtles around Socotra abound in the clear blue waters. Loggerheads, Greens and other varieties love this area and choose to nest on the islands white sand beaches. We offer turtle nesting tours in the company of Socotra Conservation and Development Program guides who walk the beaches recording nesting sites, collect information on turtle sizes, types, etc and tag them for research studies.

Turtle nesting season starts as early as April but really gets into swing during late May and June, extending through September when the eggs hatch and all the little baby turtles race to the water to hopefully a long life.

Socotra is one of the most unique places on this planet, and has an incredible network of caves, many of them have yet to be explored.

We can organize and provide logistical services for qualified groups. In other words, you can explore cave systems that have already been mapped, or work with the SCDP and help in exploring and mapping new areas.
